Greece

You only need to stay 2-3 days in Athens to see everything you want to see. The city itself is pretty touristy and busy, so I enjoyed the small towns much more.

Athens

what to know

where to stay

Coco-mat - This place is an eco luxury hotel with a rooftop pool that views the Acropolis. There is a delicious breakfast buffet, a beautiful spa, and has ancient Greek ruins in the lobby. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful.

what to see

Most of the ruins you would want to see are walking distance from the hotel. They can cost anywhere from $5-$20 for entery. Here were some of my favorite sites!

what to drink

Ouzo - try it on ice, trust me!

Metaxa Tonic - tastes like a ginger ale! This is a house cocktail that everyone drinks.

Mastic - a liquor made from tree sap. It's kind of sweet and great straight or in cocktails.

what to eat

Sisenly All Day Gastro Pub - This place had amazing food and drinks and has a view of Hadrien's library.

where to get souvnirs

Diatauta - with three locations, this shop was one of the best. They feature crafts from local artisans and real traditional food souvenirs. They had a liquor tasting of some traditional liquors and the shop keeper was very knowledgeable about them!

tips

  • pickpocketing is frequent here! keep your bags zipped and make sure you have your money and cards where you can see them.
  • probably the best hidden gem! see if you can find this!
