Sardines are the "it" sea food of the season. They have never been so cool. (Or are these anchovies and how do you tell the difference?) Either way, I remember these were the joke nasty food growing up. Want to play a mean prank? Feed someone sardines. 

So when it Italy someone suggested we order a plate for the table, I hesitated. But I'm not one to shy away from trying new things, and let me tell you, I was shocked. I was amazed, in fact. 

P.S. I do not recommend buying Sardines, Anchovies, or anything similar in the US, for no other reason as they ARE nasty. After coming home from my trip, I thought I would add them into my diet and the old joke was immediately validated.
